LT. LARRY JOHNSON - White Plains Police Dept.

LT. LARRY S. JOHNSON, A WHITE PLAINS NATIVE, JOINED THE WHITE PLAINS POLICE DEPARTMENT ON JULY 6, 1981. IN 1986,AFTER FIVE YEARS IN PATROL, HE WAS ASSIGNED TO THE STREET CRIME UNIT. TWO YEARS LATER, HE WAS PROMOTED TO DETECTIVE, WHERE HE REMAINED IN THE STREET CRIME UNIT. LARRY WAS PROMOTED TO THE RANK OF SERGEANT IN AUGUST 1991. HE WAS ASSIGNED TO THE PATROL DIVISION. IN SEPTEMBER 1992 HE WAS ASSIGNED TO THE TRAFFIC DIVISION WHERE HE SUPERVISED THE MOTORCYCLE UNIT, MOUNTED HORSE DIVIĀ­SION, RADAR PATROL, AND PARKING ENFORCEMENT. IN JUNE OF 1993 HE TOOK OVER THE REINS OF THE ENTIRE DIVISION WHEN HE WAS PROMOTED TO TRAFFIC DIVISION COMMANDER. A YEAR LATER IN AUGUST HE WAS PROMOTED TO THE POSITION OF LIEUTENANT AND REASSIGNED TO THE PATROL DIVISION. AFTER THIS PROMOTION LARRY WAS THE HIGHEST-RANKING BLACK OFFICER IN THE COUNTY. LARRY IS CURRENTY ASSIGNED AS PATROL DIVISION TOUR COMMANDER FOR THE 1ST SHIFT.
