SGT. JOHN W. SLADE - Village of Haverstraw Police Dept.

Sgt. John W. Slade is 34 years old and has been a police officer with the village of Haverstraw for 11 years. On February 15, 2000, he was promoted to the rank of sergeant. He is currently supervisor of the Street crime unit and the bike unit.
He graduated from Ramapo Senior High School class of 1985, and attended the Rockland Community col­lege. He graduated the Rockland County police academy in the spring of 1990. He has taken the narcotics investigation course with the Drug Enforcement agency (DEA). He has taken The High Intensity Drug Trafficking Agency (H.I.D.T.A) course.
He belongs to not oniy the Westchester-Rockland Guardians Association, but he is also a member of the Haverstraw Village PBA, where he was a former president, The Rockland County PBA, The Rockland County Patrolmen’s Benevolent Association, Inc., and is a former coach for the Rockland County Police Athletic League.
He enjoys carpentry, skiing, reading, listening to jazz, and traveling. He is currently restoring a 1 969 Corvette Stingray.
His goals and aspirations are to retire as chief of police. complete his formal education and start a second career. He’d like to travel to Egypt, design and build his dream home for his wife, Maribel and his son, Malcolm, and to read stories to his grandchildren.
